Golf in Cadiz

For this week's ClubstoHire.com's travel blog we take a look at the sun-drenched southern coastal region of Spain, Bahia de Cadiz in Andalucia. With average temperatures that don't usually exceed the high twenties throughout the summer the heat in Cadiz is consistently similar to what we are currently experiencing in Ireland. This provides tourists with ample time to enjoy long walks on the coast, a day on the beach, or golf throughout the day.

Things to do in Cadiz

The province of Cadiz is very diverse and contains numerous places which are well worth a visit, from the countryside around Jerez de la Frontera to the villages in Campo de Gibraltar, or you can take a tour of the white villages and stop to relax somewhere along the coast between Tarifa and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. All of this without forgetting the capital of the region, which holds within its walls the culture and the traditions which set the city –and its people– apart.

The delicious gastronomy of Cadiz is a compilation of Andalusia’s most appetising dishes. The produce of the mountains and the sea, accompanied by outstanding wines, will transform any visit into a delicious experience. There is a wide range of fish and shellfish, including the local langoustines from Sanlúcar from which they take their name, the bienmesabe (fried marinated dogfish), the sea bream à la roteña, the gilthead sea bream baked in salt, clams with noodles, tiny shrimp omelettes, and numerous other dishes which are better to try than to describe.

With 10 golf courses in the area around Cadiz stretching from Sanlucar de Barrameda in the northwest, through Jerez and Cadiz and into Novo Santi Petri in the south, this piece of the Andalucian coastline has coastal views to distract you from the high scores you might encounter while golfing around the region.
